Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King announced a total of $11,273,000 through low-interest loans and grants for two water and wastewater infrastructure projects in Maine. This funding was awarded through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Water and Waste Disposal Program.
“Maintaining and upgrading water and wastewater systems is vital to ensuring the economic and environmental health of our communities,” said Senators Collins and King in a joint statement. “We welcome these important infrastructure investments in rural Maine, which will help ensure that Mainers continue to have access to clean, safe water while creating and retaining jobs.”
The funding will be allocated as follows:
The Water and Waste Disposal Program provides funding for clean and reliable drinking water systems, sanitary sewage disposal, sanitary solid waste disposal, and storm water drainage to households and businesses in eligible rural areas.
