Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King today announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will award a total of $354,844 to three Maine fire departments to enhance their overall safety and operations. The Albion Volunteer Fire Department will receive $20,457, the Anson Fire Department will receive $162,381, and Plymouth Fire and Rescue will receive $172,006.
“Members of the Albion, Anson, and Plymouth communities rely on the brave men and women of their local fire departments to help keep them safe,” said Senators Collins and King in joint a statement. “These investments help give firefighters the resources they need to continue protecting our communities.”
The Assistance to Firefighters Grant program was created to help provide funds for fire departments and non-affiliated emergency medical service organizations so that they can purchase equipment, protective gear, emergency vehicles, training, and other resources to better protect the public and emergency personnel. FEMA is an agency within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
