WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King today announced that the Maine Fire Services Institute in South Portland will receive a Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant in the amount of $434,783 to purchase a live fire training trailer. These trailers provide for crucial fire simulation exercises that help to prepare and train firefighters.
"Firefighters encounter dangerous, life-threatening situations every day,” Senators Collins and King said in a joint statement. “This funding will provide safe fire-simulation training for firefighters in South Portland and help ensure they have the skills and tools required to protect our communities."
