Collins, King Announce $2.12 Million for Health Centers in Cumberland and Piscataquis Counties

Washington, D.C. — U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded $1,492,719 in funding to Greater Portland Health in Cumberland County and $635,688 for Sebasticook Family Doctors in Piscataquis County.

“Access to quality, affordable health care is crucial to the well-being of Maine communities,” said Senators Collins and King in a joint statement.  “This important funding will help Greater Portland Health and Sebasticook Family Doctors continue to provide cost-effective primary and preventive care that is critical to many Mainers in Cumberland and Piscataquis counties.”

This funding was awarded through the Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA) Health Center Cluster Program at HHS, which is tasked with improving access to health care by building healthy communities, strengthening the health care workforce, and achieving health equity. HRSA’s programs target the economic and medically vulnerable as well as the geographically isolated.
