COLLINS ANNOUNCES NEW POST OFFICE FOR HANOVER

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Senate Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Susan Collins (R-ME) today announced that the U.S. Postal Service has approved plans to build a new post office for the town of Hanover.

"Hanover residents have long been in need of a new post office, and this is wonderful news," said Collins, whose committee oversees the Postal Service. "It will give residents better access to the services they require."

A few years ago, the post office in Hanover was deemed unsuitable and residents have been urging the federal government to approve a replacement.

Hanover already has a leased lot and foundation in place for a new building, but the project stalled because federal funds had not been released. With today's announcement, Hanover will be able to move forward on the project.

"All Mainers-not just those in our larger cities-deserve adequate access to postal facilities. This new post office fulfills the promise owed to the people of Hanover," said Collins.
