The funding is being distributed to Maine through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. Senator Collins worked with a bipartisan group of senators to craft the legislation that became law last month.
Senator Collins released the following statement:
"Our community health centers furnish critical health care services throughout the state of Maine, ensuring patient access to quality preventive and primary health care even in the most medically underserved areas. This is especially true during tough economic times when there is increased demand for these services," said Senator Collins. "This funding will help make certain that community health centers can continue to play a vital role in our health care delivery system."
