BIW PRESIDENT THANKS SENATOR COLLINS FOR HER “UNTIRING AND EFFECTIVE WORK” ON BEHALF OF BIW AND ITS WORKFORCE

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Susan Collins received a letter today from Allan Cameron, President of Bath Iron Works (BIW), thanking the Senator for her "untiring and effective work in the Senate on behalf of BIW and its workforce."

Cameron noted that during Senator Collins's first term in the U.S. Senate, BIW received the two largest Navy shipbuilding contracts in the yard's 118-year history. Senator Collins's work to obtain these contracts has resulted in a workload for BIW that will extend through the decade, providing BIW and its workforce an unprecedented degree of stability.

"Your service on the Senate Armed Services Committee and its influential Seapower Subcommittee has been and continues to be very important to BIW and its workers," said Cameron. "Your diligent work with the Defense Department and Navy Leaders helped ensure that BIW and its workforce's interests were served. "I want you to know how grateful I am for your important work in the United States Senate and for the level of commitment you bring to looking out for the interests of this shipyard and the employees and families of Bath Iron Works."

"The continued prosperity of BIW is of vital interest to Maine, the Navy, and the nation," said Senator Collins. "There are many dedicated and talented workers within the shipyard that I am proud to serve."
