Biddeford Company Awarded $10 Million Navy Contract

Washington, D.C.-- U.S. Senator Susan Collins, a member of both the Senate Armed Services Committee and the Senate Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, announced today that the U.S. Navy has awarded VingTech Corporation of Biddeford a $10,082,150 contract for crew-served weapons fire control systems.

"VingTech's receipt of this competitive contract award over several other competitors shows just how good Maine companies are and how talented our workforce is," said Senator Collins. "I could not be more proud of their work and their important contributions to our national security."

VingTech also builds parts of the Common Remotely Operated Weapons System. CROWS is a remote gun system that allows soldiers to conduct surveillance and fire weapons from inside a vehicle without being exposed to enemy fire.  Senator Collins has long been a strong proponent of the CROWS system, including supporting funding for the system on an annual basis. She also authored report language in the Fiscal Year 2013 National Defense Authorization Bill, approved by the Armed Services Committee, that required the Army to develop a basis of issue plan and an acquisition objective.
