Washington DC- Senator Susan Collins today announced that Jamie Nissen of Portland has been awarded an internship in her DC office this summer. Nissen's main responsibility will be to assist the Senator with daily office procedures and help respond to constituent concerns. "I began my political career as an intern and realize how rewarding and stimulating the experience can be," said Senator Collins. "It will truly be a pleasure to have Jamie in the office this summer. His ambition and excitement will be a wonderful contribution to my staff."
Nissen graduated from Tabor Academy in Marion, Massachusetts and currently is entering his senior year at Bates College, where he is highly active in student politics. He will graduate from Bates in 2006 as a Political Science major with a concentration in American Government and a minor in Religion. He hopes that his experience this summer will help him with the important career choices that lay ahead.
