$250,000 for Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office to Purchase Body Cameras Secured by Senator Collins

Washington, D.C.—U.S. Senator Susan Collins announced today that she secured $250,000 for the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office to purchase body-worn cameras and in-car camera systems in the Fiscal Year 2022 Commerce, Justice, and Science Appropriations bill.  Senator Collins is a senior member of the powerful Appropriations Committee.

The omnibus funding package passed the House and the Senate and now heads to the President’s desk to be signed into law.

“In Maine, we are fortunate to have so many terrific and professional law enforcement officers who are devoted to their duty and to doing what is right. The mutual trust between our police force and the local community can be further strengthened by using body cameras,” said Senator Collins. “The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office will use this funding to purchase these critical tools, helping to keep our brave law enforcement officers and the local communities they serve safe.”
