$2.5 Million for York Hospital Secured by Senator Collins in Funding Bill in First Key Step

Funding would support modernization of cardiac catheterization lab

Washington, D.C.--U.S. Senator Susan Collins, a senior member of the powerful Senate Appropriations Committee, announced that she secured $2,500,000 for York Hospital in the draft Fiscal Year 2023 Health and Human Services appropriations bill.  The bill, which was officially released by the full Senate Appropriations Committee today, must still be voted upon by the full Senate and House.

“Mainers in every part of our state should be able to receive the vital medical services they need, which is why I have long advocated for funding to support access to quality rural health care,” said Senator Collins.  “Upgrading and renovating York Hospital’s cardiac catheterization lab would provide York County residents with access to the most advanced care, improving health outcomes.  As a senior member of the Appropriations Committee, I will continue to champion this funding as the appropriations process moves forward.”

Cardiac catheterization labs are specialized areas in the hospital where doctors perform minimally invasive tests and advanced cardiac procedures to diagnose and treat cardiovascular disease.

The funding would support York Hospital’s effort to upgrade its existing cardiac catheterization lab equipment that is approaching the end of its useful life.  Newer equipment would allow medical professionals to more effectively diagnose and treat blockages by delivering clear imaging during interventional and peripheral procedures, while also managing radiation dosage and enhancing workflow.
